Pineapple Margarita: The Ultimate Tropical Cocktail Recipe

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A refreshing, tropical Pineapple Margarita with fresh pineapple, tequila, Cointreau, lime, and agave for a sweet and tangy cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Tequila (Blanco or Silver)
  • 1 oz Cointreau (or Triple Sec)
  • 1.5 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.5 oz Agave Nectar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Pineapple Chunks (for muddling)
  • Lime wedge, for rimming
  • Coarse Salt or Sugar, for rimming
  • Pineapple wedge or leaf, for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rim: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita glass to moisten it. Spread coarse salt or sugar on a small plate. Gently press the rim of the glass into the salt or sugar, rotating until evenly coated. Set aside.
  2. Muddle the Pineapple: In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh pineapple chunks. Using a muddler, gently press and twist the pineapple to release its juices and flavor.
  3. Add the Liquids: Pour in the tequila, Cointreau (or Triple Sec), fresh pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar into the cocktail shaker.
  4. Add Ice: Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  5. Shake Vigorously: Seal the cocktail shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds.
  6. Strain and Serve: Open the cocktail shaker and strain the margarita into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  7. Garnish: Garnish with a pineapple wedge or leaf on the rim of the glass.
  8. Enjoy! Adjust the agave nectar to your liking if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet drink.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a small slice of jalapeño to the shaker while muddling the pineapple.
  • Grill the pineapple chunks before muddling for a smoky flavor.
  • Blend all the ingredients with ice in a blender until smooth for a frozen margarita.
  • Blanco tequila is generally preferred, but reposado can also be used.
  • Experiment with salt and sugar rims to see which you prefer.
  • Omit the tequila and Cointreau for a refreshing non-alcoholic pineapple limeade.
  • To make a batch, multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need. Mix everything in a large pitcher (except the ice) and refrigerate until ready to serve. Add ice just before serving.
  • For an extra layer of flavor, try using pineapple-infused tequila.
  • Use colorful straws, fancy glasses, and unique garnishes to make your Pineapple Margarita even more appealing.
