Mango Agua Fresca: A Refreshing Summer Drink Recipe

  • Total Time: 17 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Refreshing and easy Mango Agua Fresca, perfect for a hot day! Combines ripe mangoes, water, lime juice, and a touch of sweetness for a naturally delicious and hydrating beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe mangoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 cups cold water, plus more to adjust consistency
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Optional garnishes: mint sprigs, lime wedges, mango slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare Mango Base: Peel and cube the mangoes. Add the mangoes, cold water, sugar, lime juice, and salt to a blender.
  2. Blend and Strain: Blend on high speed until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve for a smoother texture (optional).
  3. Adjust Consistency and Flavor: Check the consistency and add more water if needed. Adjust the flavor with more lime juice or sugar to taste.
  4. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Stir well before serving. Fill glasses with ice, pour the agua fresca over the ice, and garnish with mint, lime, or mango slices.

Notes

  • Use ripe mangoes for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness and consistency to your preference.
  • Straining is optional but recommended for a smoother drink.
  • For a spicy kick, add a small piece of jalapeño to the blender.
  • Use frozen mango chunks if fresh mangoes are not available.
  • Experiment with other fruits like pineapple or strawberries.
  • Sweeten with honey or agave instead of sugar.
  • For an adult version, add a shot of tequila or rum.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 2 minutes
