  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Enjoy a homemade Tiramisu Latte with rich tiramisu flavors, a homemade syrup, and creamy mascarpone topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional, but highly recommended!)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 ounces (1/2 cup) mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled slightly
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy), steamed or frothed
  • Optional: Whipped cream, for topping
  • Optional: Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Make the Tiramisu Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and cocoa powder. Whisk until cocoa is mostly dissolved.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and salt.
  4. Cool completely. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  5. Prepare the Mascarpone Cream: Ensure mascarpone cheese is softened.
  6. In a small bowl, combine softened mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  7. Whip until smooth and creamy, being careful not to overwhip.
  8. Set aside.
  9. Assemble the Tiramisu Latte: Brew espresso or strong coffee and let it cool slightly.
  10. Add 2-3 tablespoons of Tiramisu syrup to the coffee, adjusting to taste.
  11. Steam or froth milk.
  12. Gently pour steamed milk over the coffee, leaving space at the top.
  13. Carefully spoon mascarpone cream on top of the milk.
  14. Garnish with whipped cream, cocoa powder, or chocolate shavings, if desired.
  15. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust Sweetness: Adjust the amount of syrup to your preference.
  • Coffee Strength: Use strong coffee or espresso for the best flavor.
  • Non-Dairy Options: Use almond, soy, or oat milk for a non-dairy version.
  • Alcoholic Kick: Add a splash of coffee liqueur or rum to the coffee for an adult version.
  • Iced Tiramisu Latte: Chill the coffee and milk before assembling for a refreshing iced version.
  • Mascarpone Substitute: Use full-fat cream cheese (drained) if mascarpone is unavailable.
  • Make it Ahead: Prepare the syrup and mascarpone cream in advance.
  • Syrup Too Thick: Add water to thin.
  • Mascarpone Cream Too Thin: Add powdered sugar to thicken.
  • Mascarpone Cream Grainy: Avoid overwhipping the mascarpone cream.
