Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted (2 sticks)
  • 1 can (21 oz) strawberry pie filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (optional, for garnish)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese. Ensure it’s at room temperature for easy mixing.
  2. Using a hand mixer or a whisk, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese, mixing well after each addition to avoid lumps.
  4. Once fully incorporated, add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Set aside.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter.
  7. Spread the can of strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish.
  8. Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the strawberry pie filling and gently spread it out.
  9. Open the box of yellow cake mix and sprinkle it evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  10. Pour the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix. Do not mix; let it sit on top.
  11. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  13. Scoop out portions of the dump cake and place them on individual plates.
  14. Garnish with fresh sliced strawberries if desired.
  15. Top with whipped cream for added creaminess.
  16. Serve warm or at room temperature.
  17. Allow the cake to cool completely before covering it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
  18. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
