Cool down with this refreshing Skinny Frozen Watermelon Margarita! Made with frozen watermelon, tequila, lime, and a touch of agave, it’s the perfect guilt-free summer cocktail.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon, frozen
- 1/2 cup lime juice, freshly squeezed (about 4–6 limes)
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 2–4 tablespoons agave nectar, or to taste (adjust based on watermelon sweetness)
- 1/2 cup tequila blanco (silver tequila)
- Lime wedges, for garnish
- Coarse salt or sugar, for rimming glasses (optional)
- Ice cubes (optional, for adjusting consistency)
Instructions
- Prepare Glasses (Optional): If desired, rim margarita glasses with coarse salt or sugar. Spread salt/sugar on a plate. Moisten glass rims with a lime wedge, then press into salt/sugar. Fill with ice (optional).
- Blend Margarita: Combine frozen watermelon, lime juice, orange liqueur, agave nectar, and tequila in a high-powered blender.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on low, gradually increasing to high, until smooth and slushy (1-2 minutes). Add a splash of water or ice if needed to help it blend.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness. Add more agave for sweetness, or lime juice for tartness.
- Adjust Consistency (Optional): If too thick, add water or lime juice. If too thin, add more frozen watermelon or ice. Blend again.
- Pour and Garnish: Carefully pour into prepared glasses. Garnish with lime wedges. Optional garnishes: mint, berries, chili pepper, or frozen watermelon balls.
- Serve Immediately: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Use high-quality tequila blanco for the best flavor.
- Adjust agave nectar based on watermelon sweetness.
- Experiment with adding other fruits like strawberries, raspberries, or mangoes.
- For a spicy kick, add a pinch of chili powder or jalapeño slices.
- To make it non-alcoholic, omit tequila and add extra lime juice or sparkling water.
- This recipe can be doubled or tripled for a party.
- Leftovers can be frozen in an airtight container and re-blended after thawing.
- Watermelon Selection: Look for a dull rind, yellow ground spot, and a hollow sound when thumped. Choose a heavy watermelon for its size.
- Lime Juice: Use fresh limes, roll them before juicing, and strain the juice.
- Agave Nectar: Use sparingly, choose light agave nectar, and store properly.
