Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ripe pineapple
- 1–2 tablespoons of sugar (optional)
- 1 cup of cold water (optional)
- Ice cubes (for serving)
- Mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Select a ripe pineapple: Choose a pineapple that has a sweet aroma, is slightly soft to the touch, and has vibrant green leaves.
- Wash the pineapple: Rinse under cool running water and pat dry.
- Cut off the top and bottom: Slice off the crown and bottom to create a stable base.
- Peel the pineapple: Stand it upright and carefully slice down the sides to remove the tough outer skin and “eyes.”
- Core the pineapple: Cut the pineapple into quarters and remove the core from each quarter.
- Chop the pineapple: Cut the flesh into smaller chunks for easier blending.
- Blend the pineapple: Place chunks in a blender. Add sugar if desired.
- Add water (optional): For a lighter juice, add 1 cup of cold water.
- Blend until smooth: Blend on high speed until smooth, about 30-60 seconds.
- Strain the juice: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl or pitcher, pressing down to extract juice.
- Discard the pulp: Discard the leftover pulp or use it in smoothies.
- Taste and adjust: Taste the juice and add more sugar or water if needed.
- Chill the juice: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to enhance refreshment.
- Serve over ice: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled juice over the ice.
- Garnish (optional): Garnish with fresh mint for added aroma and color.
- Store in the refrigerator: Keep in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
- Freeze for later: Freeze in ice cube trays for longer storage.
- Add other fruits: Experiment with strawberries, mangoes, or oranges for a mixed fruit juice.
- Infuse with herbs: Add herbs like basil or rosemary for a unique flavor twist.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness based on the ripeness of the pineapple.
- For a more concentrated flavor, skip the water.
