  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (about 1012 cookies)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Add the frothy yeast mixture and stir until combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  7. Crush Oreo cookies into small pieces and set aside.
  8. Combine crushed Oreos, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
  9. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
  10. Brush melted butter over the dough and sprinkle the Oreo filling mixture evenly.
  11. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge into a log.
  12. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces, about 1.5 inches thick.
  13. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  14. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  15. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  16. Let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  17. In a medium bowl, whisk together cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  18. Spread the cream cheese icing over the warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot when activating the yeast.
  • You can adjust the amount of crushed Oreos based on your preference for sweetness.
