Description

Enjoy these Marshmallow Chocolate Treats, featuring a delicious combination of gooey marshmallows, crispy rice cereal, and rich chocolate chips. Quick and easy to make, they’re perfect for any celebration and can be customized with your favorite add-ins!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups of mini marshmallows
  • 3 cups of crispy rice cereal
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans)
  • Optional: Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients and tools. You’ll need a large mixing bowl, a saucepan, a spatula, and a baking dish (9×13 inches works perfectly).
  2. In the saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir occasionally until it’s completely melted.
  3. Once the butter is melted, add the mini marshmallows to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth (about 5-7 minutes). Be careful not to scorch the marshmallows.
  4. After the marshmallows have melted, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, pour in the crispy rice cereal.
  6. Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the crispy rice cereal. Gently fold the mixture together with a spatula, being careful not to crush the cereal.
  7. Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts, gently folding everything together until evenly distributed.
  8. Lightly grease your baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  9. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Use your hands (lightly greased) to press it down firmly.
  10. If desired, sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top before it sets.
  11. Let the mixture cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 15 minutes to speed up the process.
  12. Once cooled, cut the treats into squares or rectangles (about 2-inch squares).
  13. Carefully lift the squares out of the baking dish, using a spatula if needed.
  14. Place the treats on a serving platter or in an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to a week.

Notes

  • Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate or add-ins like dried fruits or other candies for a unique twist.
  • For a more festive look, consider using themed sprinkles for holidays or special occasions.
