- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- Optional: 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans)

- Gather all your ingredients and tools. Youll need a large mixing bowl, a saucepan, a spatula, and a baking dish (9×13 inches works perfectly).
- In the saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir occasionally until its completely melted.
- Once the butter is melted, add the mini marshmallows to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth (about 5-7 minutes). Be careful not to scorch the marshmallows.
- After the marshmallows have melted, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, pour in the crispy rice cereal.
- Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the crispy rice cereal. Gently fold the mixture together with a spatula, being careful not to crush the cereal.
- Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts, gently folding everything together until evenly distributed.
- Lightly grease your baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Use your hands (lightly greased) to press it down firmly.
- If desired, sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top before it sets.
- Let the mixture cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 15 minutes to speed up the process.
- Once cooled, cut the treats into squares or rectangles (about 2-inch squares).
- Carefully lift the squares out of the baking dish, using a spatula if needed.
- Place the treats on a serving platter or in an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to a week.
