- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 4 cups of water
- 1 tablespoon of dried culinary lavender
- 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of brewed espresso or strong coffee
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: additional lavender sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of rolled oats and 4 cups of water.
- Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
- Toss in 1 tablespoon of dried culinary lavender.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Pour the oat mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher, pressing down on the oats to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the leftover oat pulp.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- Set the oat milk aside. Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
- Prepare your espresso machine or coffee maker to brew about 1 cup of espresso or strong coffee.
- Set the brewed coffee aside, keeping it warm if desired.
- In a large mug, pour in 1 cup of brewed espresso or strong coffee.
- Shake or stir the prepared lavender oat milk to mix in the sweetener and vanilla.
- Slowly pour the lavender oat milk into the mug with the coffee.
- For a frothy texture, use a milk frother or shake the oat milk in a jar with a lid until frothy.
- Gently stir to combine.
- Sprinkle a few dried lavender buds on top for garnish.
- Drizzle a bit more honey or maple syrup on top if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade lavender oat latte!
