  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. For the filling, beat together the marshmallow fluff and butter until smooth.
  11. Using a piping bag, fill each cupcake with the marshmallow mixture.
  12. For the frosting, melt the chocolate and mix in the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  13. Frost the tops of the cupcakes with the chocolate frosting.
  14. Drizzle with additional melted chocolate if desired.
