Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (12 ounce) can of ginger ale, chilled
- 1/2 cup grenadine syrup
- 1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice (from the jar)
- 1/4 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed is best!
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- Maraschino cherries, for garnish
- Orange slices, for garnish (optional)
- Ice cubes, as needed
Instructions
- Prepare the Shirley Temple Base: In a medium-sized bowl or large measuring cup, combine grenadine syrup, maraschino cherry juice, orange juice, and lemon juice. Stir well.
- Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more lemon juice if too sweet, or more grenadine if too tart.
- Pour the juice mixture into ice cube trays, filling each compartment almost to the top.
- Freeze for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, until completely solid.
- Blend the Frozen Shirley Temple: Gather your blender and chilled ginger ale.
- Remove frozen juice cubes from trays and let them sit for a minute or two to soften slightly.
- Place about half of the frozen juice cubes into the blender.
- Add about 1/4 cup of chilled ginger ale to help the blender get started.
- Blend until smooth and slushy, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. Add more ginger ale as needed to achieve the desired consistency.
- Adjust consistency by adding more ginger ale if too thick, or more frozen juice cubes if too thin.
- Serving and Garnishing: Pour the frozen Shirley Temple into glasses.
- Garnish with maraschino cherries and orange slices (optional).
- Serve immediately.
