Fried Mac and Cheese: A Deliciously Crispy Twist on a Classic Comfort Food

  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 24 mac and cheese balls

Description

These crispy, golden mac and cheese balls are a delicious twist on a classic comfort food. Perfect for parties or as a fun snack, they are filled with creamy cheese and fried to perfection!

Ingredients

  • mac and cheese mixture
  • cooked bacon (optional)
  • diced jalapeños (optional)
  • favorite dipping sauce (optional)
  • oil for frying
  • paper towels

Instructions

  1. Fry the mac and cheese balls in hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, for about 3-4 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to turn them occasionally for even cooking.
  2. Once cooked, remove the mac and cheese balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Repeat the frying process with the remaining balls.
  3. Serve the mac and cheese balls warm, with your favorite dipping sauce, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add cooked bacon or diced jalapeños to the mac and cheese mixture before shaping into balls.
  • These mac and cheese balls can be made ahead of time and frozen before frying. Just fry them straight from the freezer, adding a minute or two to the cooking time.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese for a unique flavor profile.
