Description

This breakfast casserole features flaky crescent rolls layered with fluffy eggs, savory sausage, and melted cheddar cheese, making it a hearty and satisfying dish. Ideal for brunch or family breakfasts, it’s easily customizable with your favorite ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans of crescent roll dough
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of cooked breakfast sausage, crumbled (or diced ham or cooked bacon)
  • 1/2 cup of diced bell peppers (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of diced onions (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil (if using fresh vegetables)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Open the cans of crescent roll dough and unroll them. Separate the dough into triangles and lay them flat in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). If using ham or bacon, ensure they are pre-cooked and diced.
  4. In the same skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced bell peppers and onions, sautéing for about 3-4 minutes until tender. Remove from heat.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, crack the 8 large eggs and whisk until well combined.
  6. Pour in 1 cup of milk, then add garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  7. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, cooked sausage (or other meat), and sautéed vegetables (if using) into the egg mixture.
  8. Lay the triangles of crescent roll dough flat in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly.
  9. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the crescent roll layer, spreading it evenly.
  10. Sprinkle additional shredded cheddar cheese on top if desired.
  11. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
  12. Insert a toothpick in the center; if it comes out clean, the casserole is ready. If not, bake for a few more minutes.
  13. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  14. Cut into squares and serve warm with your favorite breakfast sides.
  15. Cool completely before transferring leftovers to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
