Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans of crescent roll dough
- 8 large eggs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of cooked breakfast sausage, crumbled (or diced ham or cooked bacon)
- 1/2 cup of diced bell peppers (optional)
- 1/2 cup of diced onions (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil (if using fresh vegetables)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Open the cans of crescent roll dough and unroll them. Separate the dough into triangles and lay them flat in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). If using ham or bacon, ensure they are pre-cooked and diced.
- In the same skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced bell peppers and onions, sautéing for about 3-4 minutes until tender. Remove from heat.
- In a large mixing bowl, crack the 8 large eggs and whisk until well combined.
- Pour in 1 cup of milk, then add garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, cooked sausage (or other meat), and sautéed vegetables (if using) into the egg mixture.
- Lay the triangles of crescent roll dough flat in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly.
- Carefully pour the egg mixture over the crescent roll layer, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle additional shredded cheddar cheese on top if desired.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
- Insert a toothpick in the center; if it comes out clean, the casserole is ready. If not, bake for a few more minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- Cut into squares and serve warm with your favorite breakfast sides.
- Cool completely before transferring leftovers to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
