Description
A refreshing and creamy Mexican beverage made from rice, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon, perfect for cooling down on a hot day or as a delightful treat any time.

- 1 cup rice
- 5 cups water
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- In a blender, combine 1 cup of uncooked white rice and 1 cup of water. Blend until the rice is finely ground.
- Add 4 cups of water to the blender and blend again until well mixed.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove the rice solids.
- Stir in 1 cup of milk (or a dairy-free alternative), 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- Chill the horchata in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve over ice and sprinkle with additional cinnamon if desired.
Notes
- Die Horchata kann im Voraus zubereitet und im Kühlschrank aufbewahrt werden.
- Für eine süßere Variante kann mehr Zucker hinzugefügt werden.
- Die Zugabe von Zimt verleiht der Horchata einen zusätzlichen Geschmack.
- Die Konsistenz kann durch die Menge an Wasser angepasst werden.
