  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Once the water is at a rolling boil, add the egg noodles.
  2. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, usually around 7-9 minutes, until they are al dente. You want them to be firm since they will continue to cook in the oven.
  3. Once cooked, drain the noodles in a colander and set them aside. Rinse them briefly with cold water to stop the cooking process and prevent them from sticking together.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and milk. Stir until well blended.
  5. Add in the shredded cheddar cheese, frozen mixed vegetables, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix everything together until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  6. Gently fold in the cooked egg noodles, ensuring they are well coated with the creamy mixture.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  9. Pour the chicken noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  10. For a crunchy topping, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter and sprinkle it over the top of the casserole.
  11. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden brown.
  12. After 25 minutes, check the casserole. If the top isn’t golden enough, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
