  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Spicy Buldak Ramen elevated with a flavorful homemade sauce, melted mozzarella, and a runny egg for ultimate comfort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packets Buldak Ramen (any flavor, original 2x Spicy used)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 teaspoon gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, optional for extra heat)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or any cheese you like!)

Instructions

  1. Combine the Sauce Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, gochujang, gochugaru (if using), sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Make sure everything is well combined.
  2. Taste and Adjust: Taste the sauce and adjust ingredients to your liking. Add more gochugaru or hot sauce for spice, or more sugar/soy sauce to balance it.
  3. Boil the Water: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  4. Add the Noodles: Add both packets of Buldak Ramen noodles. Cook according to package directions (around 5 minutes), separating noodles with chopsticks.
  5. Drain Most of the Water: Drain most of the water, leaving about 2-3 tablespoons of the cooking liquid in the pan.
  6. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce into the pan with the noodles. Stir well to coat the noodles evenly.
  7. Cook and Stir: Turn the heat to medium-low and continue to cook, stirring constantly, for about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the noodles. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for another minute or two, or until the cheese is melted and gooey.
  9. Cook the Egg: While the noodles are cooking, fry an egg in a separate pan to your liking (sunny-side up recommended).
  10. Transfer to a Bowl: Carefully transfer the cheesy Buldak Ramen to a serving bowl.
  11. Top with the Egg: Place the fried egg on top of the noodles.
  12. Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and seaweed flakes (kim). Add other toppings as desired.
  13. Serve Immediately: Enjoy your spicy Buldak Ramen!

Notes

  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of gochujang and gochugaru to your preference.
  • Noodles: Don’t overcook the noodles. Cook them al dente for the best texture.
  • Variations: Add protein (chicken, beef, tofu), vegetables (mushrooms, onions, peppers), or different cheeses.
  • Vegan: Use vegan gochujang and vegan cheese to make this recipe vegan-friendly.
  • Extra Flavor: Use chicken broth instead of water, add a dash of fish sauce, or marinate the protein.
  • Troubleshooting: If the sauce is too thick, add water or broth. If it’s too thin, cook it longer. If the noodles are too spicy, add sugar or soy sauce.
