Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 box (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 box (12 oz) vanilla wafers
- Optional: additional banana slices and crushed vanilla wafers for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, pour in the instant vanilla pudding mix.
- Add 2 cups of cold milk to the bowl. Whisk together until thickened, about 2 minutes. Set aside.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, pour in 1 cup of heavy whipping cream.
- Add 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Using an electric mixer, whip on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes. Avoid over-whipping.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture using a spatula until smooth and well combined.
- In a large trifle dish or individual cups, start with a layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom.
- Slice one banana and layer the slices over the wafers (use about half of the bananas).
- Spoon a generous layer of the pudding mixture over the bananas, spreading evenly.
- Repeat the layering process: another layer of vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding, for a total of three layers.
- Top with the remaining pudding mixture, smoothing it out.
- Add a dollop of remaining whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with additional banana slices and crushed vanilla wafers if desired.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- When ready to serve, scoop out portions ensuring each serving has layers.
- Serve in bowls or on plates, adding more whipped cream on top if desired.
- Cover leftovers tightly with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- Avoid freezing, as the texture of bananas and whipped cream may change.
Notes
- For best flavor, allow the dessert to chill overnight.
