Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add the melted butter to the banana mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
  4. Crack in the egg and pour in the vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. The dough should be thick and slightly sticky.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the packed brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well.
  8. Spread the softened butter evenly over the surface of the dough.
  9. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough, pressing it gently into the dough.
  10. Roll the dough into a tight log from one end.
  11. Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices using a sharp knife or dental floss.
  12. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, leaving space between each roll.
  13. Cover the baking dish with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes.
  14. While the rolls are rising, prepare the cream cheese glaze by beating the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
  15. Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Notes

  • Ensure the bananas are ripe for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon in the filling according to your taste preference.
  • The cream cheese glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to use.
