Description
Quick and easy air fryer chicken breast seasoned with a flavorful spice rub. Perfect for a healthy and delicious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6–8 ounces each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (for a little heat)
Instructions
- Pound the chicken breasts: Place chicken between plastic wrap and pound to 1/2-inch thickness for even cooking.
- Prepare the spice rub: In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well.
- Season the chicken: Drizzle olive oil over both sides of the chicken. Generously sprinkle the spice rub over both sides, pressing it gently into the chicken.
- Preheat the air fryer (optional): Preheat to 360°F (180°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Place the chicken in the air fryer basket: Arrange the seasoned chicken breasts in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding.
- Air fry the chicken: Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Check for doneness: Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken breast. It should register 165°F (74°C).
- Rest the chicken: Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes before air frying.
- For a crispy breaded chicken breast, dip the chicken in beaten egg, then dredge it in breadcrumbs before air frying.
- Experiment with different spice blends to customize the flavor.
- Serve sliced over salads, in sandwiches, with roasted vegetables, or as a main course.
- If chicken is drying out, try brining it for 30 minutes before seasoning.
- Air fryers can vary in power, so adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Clean your air fryer after each use.
- Leftover chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
